“Wellness Literacy”
Much like “health literacy”, the issue at hand is…”do people really know and appreciate” what wellness is. There will be many reasons why individuals and their families will be “wellness illiterate”. The ability to access information, can they read it (if only provided in English) and can they afford to make the changes that are suggested. There continues to be many in this country, and around the world, who or just focused on daily “living”. The access to fresh, clean water is now becoming and issue for more and more…so that is their priority. They are not accessing information because they are spending hours a day farming, or gathering of basic essentials, no time to read if they can read.
We are more priviliged in English - speaking countries than we will ever know. Are we sharing the wealth of resources and are we sharing the information. This is also an impediment, we have “cultures” who are not trusting of the English speaking, or if you are fair skinned. This will no doubt impact the “wellness quotient”, especially if the “resistance” includes acts of war or genocide.
Please do reflect on these thoughts and perhaps you can add to this context of Wellness Literacy.
